Arteta Praises ‘More Reliable’ Squad and Reveals Kai Havertz Setback.

Arsenal's manager remains confident that his side can persist in handling with player absences following confirming that attacker Kai Havertz is not ready for the coming weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for Havertz

The Germany international has been sidelined since August after undergoing an operation on his knee. Originally slated to come back at the start of this month, Arteta revealed the player hit a snag when increasing his recovery and failed to reach “the next phase.”

“Our experience helped us build a squad that is far more dependable and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

Tactical Decisions for Midweek Fixture

This update leaves a dilemma for the midweek fixture at the Emirates against Brentford. Arteta must choose between sticking with Mikel Merino, who found the net as a makeshift striker last weekend, or recalling Viktor Gyökeres, who featured briefly from a muscle injury off the bench. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus is also available following a lengthy absence.

Fitness Doubts Persist

Further fitness issues affect centre-back William Saliba and attacker Leandro Trossard, who both missed the Chelsea match. As a result, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are expected to continue in central defence for the Premier League front-runners.

Arteta believes the £250m spend on new players ahead of this season has left Arsenal in a much stronger position to navigate such setbacks.

Greater Options Vital for Title Challenge

When asked if a larger pool of players was aiding their championship push, his response was positive. “Absolutely, because this season has presented greater challenges in certain positions, and now what’s happening with the backline,” he continued.

“We learned from the past that we must deploy players in different positions, and they need to be prepared to perform various functions if we are to fight at the highest level. And the case of Mikel is just the best one.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Frustrated Havertz

Addressing the delay highlighted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta offered further detail. “His recovery was progressing. He failed to advance to the next level and now the signs are like we have solved that issue.”

The manager conveyed his eagerness to see him return. “Everyone is eager to have him. Honestly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I admire greatly for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his personality. I see him suffer being outside.”

“His playing record is phenomenal, he’s been always available, and I am eagerly awaiting to get him back with the squad on the pitch because I feel it’s going to be a massive boost.”
