Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is unclear and the United States has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
