Six Arrested After 12 Million Euro Robbery on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators using military-grade weapons detonated charges to force entry into a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during described as the newest significant daytime heist to occur in France.

The audacious robbery occurred on Thursday late morning, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the suspected perpetrators and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12 million (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of the gold refining company sustained minor injuries from the blast, and three individuals were taken to a medical facility for examination, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

Those arrested, believed to be seasoned offenders, were arrested soon afterwards in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, France, authorities revealed.

A woman involved who participated in the raid was also apprehended, according to law enforcement.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an attack on a precious metals company in the Lyon area were caught in the act,” France's security official stated online, praising officers for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The robbery occurred as French police on that Thursday arrested five more suspects, featuring a main perpetrator, in relation to the bold Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been hunting four robbers who used a vehicle featuring an elevating platform and cutting equipment to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on October 19th, fleeing with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.

In a separate high-profile case, thieves last month forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was taken into custody recently in Barcelona, Spain in regarding the theft, officials confirmed.

The string of thefts has raised concerns in the country regarding insufficient protection at cultural venues and other facilities containing precious artifacts.
