The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.
The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.
āI'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from management,ā the coach commented.
āIt would be nice to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that people question you.ā
He noted, āI'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance Iāve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.ā
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot explained:
āWe talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.ā
He added, āThrough standard exchanges I feel the confidence. However I havenāt spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.ā
The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.
āI donāt have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. Iām saying that to all,ā Jones stated.
āIt's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. Iām at the point currently where I just donāt have the phrases.ā
He went on, āIt's tough because Iām playing for the side I follow. Iām a fan, and I've watched this club for years.ā
āIn recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period like this with outcomes so bad.ā
He stated, āBut we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.ā
āWeāre going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.ā
āAt this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.ā
