The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating action and madness with equal excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose work have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by featuring a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.

I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
